Sealed With a Kiss: Kate Noble + Giveaway

Kate Noble

Kate Noble love books. Romances especially. But, being born into a family of doctors, scientists, and mathematicians, she didn’t discover she was adept at writing until, oh, about junior year of high school. Which came as something of a relief, as she was hopeless at memorizing the Latin names for all the bones in the human body. The Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle eludes her to this day.

If I Fall- is one of my favorite romances I’ve written. It has everything I adore – swashbuckling, secret identities, a mystery, a murder, and true love saving the day. But the trip my characters take to get there – well, it’s bit crooked.

Sarah Forrester was friends with Jack as children. But as they grew up, he went to sea, and became Lieutenant Jackson Fletcher of His Majesty’s Navy, and Sarah, after suffering an emotional blow in the form of a broken engagement to a Duke, transforms herself into the Golden Lady – the sensation of the Ton. When Jack comes back from the sea, he takes one look at Sarah and knows that she’s hiding behind the Golden Lady façade.

Thwarted at every turn in trying to get her to open herself back up to becoming the sweet, happy person she used to be, Jack is at his wit’s end when he writes this letter.
And as he says, it’s not a letter he ever intends to have read.

The Love Letter:

Dear Sarah –

I write this letter knowing it will be burned upon completion.  Otherwise I could not possibly commit such things to paper.  Were it not to be destroyed, the chances of you actually reading it would increase exponentially.
I just need to get this out.  To expel it from my body, purge it from my mind, and hopefully, this fever will cease.
We were children together, you and I.  And back then, I could not take my eyes off you.  I knew you would grow up to be beautiful – and it could be said you exceeded even those expectations.  But there is something wrong.  And I cannot put my finger on it.
Do you think we do not know you well enough to know that you are hurting?  That you lash out with pretty spite at anyone who dares bring up your broken engagement with the duke.
I know I shouldn’t be worrying about you the way that I am.  I don’t have the time for it – I have duties at the Naval Offices to fulfill.  And your parents – your mother, at least – seems content to let you fly high with Lady Phillippa Worth and the Comte De LeBon’s favor to light your path.  But somehow, I can’t help feeling it falls to me to make you yourself again.
The Sarah I remember as a child is kind, and sweet, and full of life, and I know for certain that she still exists.  You are still that beautiful child Sarah.  You are still sweet, and kind, and loving, and…
Oh hell.
How do I bring you back from your razor edge of popularity, back to being the sweet girl I once knew?  Must I do something absurd?  Something drastic?  Because if it means seeing you smile again, really, truly smile and having the room fill with your light, I’m warning you, Sarah… I just might do it.
With all my conviction –

Lieutenant Jackson Fletcher, His Majesty’s Navy

Check out Jackson and Sarah's love story in:
IF I FALL
Coming April 3rd, 2012

After a duke's betrayal, the resilient Sarah Forrester reinvents herself as the Golden Lady: society's leading light, the beautiful and witty life of the party. It's all a façade of course-one that protects her from another intimate disloyalty. When her old friend, Lieutenant Jackson Fletcher, returns to London, he is determined to rediscover the true and trusting Sarah he once knew. It'll take more than a kiss and a promise. It might even call for an innocent and necessary deception.

Then Jackson is enlisted to help capture the lead suspect in a murder— a man who happens to be Sarah's most ardent suitor. Jack must continue the deception, and weathering this newest and gravest betrayal will be Sarah's ultimate test. But as Jack's passion for her grows, he must also reveal his own secrets. And as the killer turns his attention to his pursuers, more than love and trust is put at risk.

  24. He seems to really love her. I am curious to see what happened with the broken engagement for it sounds like the Duke broke it off, and something very very bad must have happened for that to have occurred.
